Thousands turned out for a national rally led by civil rights leader Rev. Al Sharpton.
"Trayvon Martin did nothing criminal or unethical," he said.
But it was the parents of Trayvon Martin that took the spotlight. Both Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin talked about why it was so important to rally for justice.
"Trayvon is my son, Trayvon is your son. We want justice for Trayvon," Sybrina Fulton said. Tryavon's father, Tracy Martin agrees.
"I would not let my son die in vein. I'm making sure George Zimmerman pay for what he did to my son."
Even though Police Chief Bill Lee stepped down temporarily on Thursday, Martin's parents say they won't be satisfied until someone is held responsible for the death of their 17-year-old son.
"Since the Chief has stepped down it's a temporary relief, but we need a permanent relief, I still say we need an arrest," Sybrina Fulton said.
Tracy Martin went on to say, "We want you all to know you are Trayvon. The temporary step down of Bill Lee is nothing. We want an arrest, we want a conviction and we want a sentence for the murder of our son."
Meanwhile, Rev. Sharpton talked about the importance of keeping peace, while fighting for their rights.
"We are tired of going to jail for nothing. We're angry, but we are not mad dogs," Rev. Sharpton said.
Many who attended Thursday's rally plan to go to Monday's rally outside the Sanford City Commission meeting.
