A nephew of former Mayor Richard Daley, is back in the spotlight because of the 2004 death of a Mount Prospect man.
R.J. Vanecko allegedly punched David Koschman during an argument on Division Street after a night out with friends.
Koschman died 10 days later. The death was ruled a homicide, but no one was charged.
Koschman's mother is now asking for a special prosecutor, saying the investigation into her son's death was flawed.
“He may have been nobody to everyone else, but he was my heart and my soul.I just need for him to rest in piece, so when I lay my head down at night I don't cry myself to sleep,” Nanci Koschman said.
The Koschmans claim criminal charges would have been filed long ago if Vanecko was not in the Daley family.
