Greater Chicago Food Depository, Northern Illinois Food Bank and the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana Hunger Statistics.

The following statistics are those of the Greater Chicago Food Depository, Northern Illinois Food Bank and the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana. Together they distribute food to 1,222 food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters. Last year, these food banks combined to distribute over 87 million pounds of food to their member agencies covering 16 counties. 36 percent of who the Greater Chicago Food Depository, Northern Illinois Food Bank and Food Bank of Northwest Indiana serve are under the age of 18 years old while 38.5 percent of households served include at least one employed adult. Below you will find a breakdown of these individual statistics.

Member Agencies:

• Greater Chicago Food Depository – 600 member agencies
• Northern Illinois Food Bank – 520 member agencies
• Food Bank of Northwest Indiana – 102 member agencies

Pounds distributed in FY 2008-2009:

• Greater Chicago Food Depository – 58.3 million pounds of food
• Northern Illinois Food Bank – 27 million pounds of food
• Food Bank of Northwest Indiana – 2.8 million pounds of food

• Northern Illinois Food Bank – Boone, Dekalb, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Will and Winnebago counties.
• Food Bank of Northwest Indiana – Lake and Porter counties
