Chicago's Most Wanted Eduardo Ventura

Chicago FBI agents are combing the globe for a Waukegan man wanted for first degree murder.

Chicago FBI agents and Waukegan police say 33 year old Eduardo Ventura has been on the run now for nearly eight years. Lake County prosecutors have charged him with fatally shooting his neighbor.

Lake County prosecutors have charged Ventura shooting and killing Giovanni Mendiola, outside the victim's house. The shooting happened on August 8, 2003, in the 1000 block of North Elmwood Avenue. Police say the two men recently had a dispute over a motor scooter. When they arrived on the scene, investigators found Mendiola lying on the ground shot in the chest. He died later that day.

Agents say the argument happed three weeks prior, when Mendiola asked Ventura not to ride his motor scooter on the sidewalk. On day of shooting, Ventura, a suspected gang member, came back with some known gang members and got into a fight with victim. As Mendiola appeared to be getting the best of him, investigators say Ventura pulled out a handgun and shot the victim.

Ventura is believed to have fled to Mexico right after shooting. Agents received additional info in 2008 confirming Ventura was in Nuevo Laredo and had been since August 2003.
Despite that information and a Mexican warrant for his arrest, police haven't been able to track down Ventura. Since its been nearly eight years since the shooting, agents believe Ventura may feel comfortable enough to return to the Chicago area - which means you may have seen him.

Here is a detailed description of what investigators say Ventura looks like. He is described as a Hispanic male, 5' 9", 200 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
He is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call police.
