DC Firefighter Faces Drug Charge For 2nd Time in Less Than A Year

Posted:

A D.C. firefighter, who has previously been arrested on gun and drug charges, has been arrested again.

Deonta Ramon Taylor was taken into custody Wednesday by D.C. Police and is now facing drug charges for the second time in less than a year.

In 2010, Taylor was arrested on a charge of possession with intent to distribute marijuana as well as carrying a pistol without a license.

According to online court records, the marijuana charge was dismissed when prosecutors told the judge they were not ready to try the case.

Court records also show Taylor went to trial on the gun charge and was found not guilty.

But now the 26-year-old is in trouble again. He was arrested Wednesday on an outstanding warrant and will go before a judge Thursday on a new drug charge. The exact charge and the evidence against the firefighter could not be learned.

A source familiar with the process tells FOX 5 that Taylor has been on administrative leave for quite some time and had been scheduled for a disciplinary hearing when he was arrested.

D.C. Fire and EMS did not return FOX 5’s calls seeking comment.

In February of 2010, D.C. Police say they found more than $3,000 in cash, marijuana and a loaded SIG Sauer .40-caliber handgun in Taylor’s car after police say the firefighter ran a red light in southeast D.C.

But Taylor went to court and was found not guilty.
