A number of Minnesota Red Bulls have been arriving back home in the pat to weeks, and for one of the last units to be stationed in Kuwait, the homecomings have never been sweeter.
The group that came back on Saturday is among the last to return from a one-year deployment in Iraq and Kuwait, and the unit's commander says this really is a case of mission accomplished.
"Our mission was: Escort the equipment out of Iraq, and get them -- the 40,000 soldiers in Iraq -- get them home by Christmas," explained Col. Eric Kerska, of the 1st Brigade 34th Infantry. "We got that done on the 18th of December with no loss of life."
Their mission now is to return home to Minnesota, and Sgt. Sang Moua's was especially happy to see his five children after months apart.
"These two -- this one learned to talk, my youngest -- and this one is getting ready to go to school," he said.
Matthew Heffron also had a happy reunion with his 6-month-old daughter.
This was the tenth group of Red Bulls to return home, and another is scheduled to arrive on Sunday.
