A man convicted of a hate crime talked to FOX 2 days before turning himself into jail.  He said he wanted to tell us his side of the story, but he really didn't seem to have any answers on why he did what he did.

"In my mind, at the time, I wasn't trying to threaten anyone," said Glenn Morgan, Junior.

He was convicted of a federal hate crime that left his victims more surprised than anything else.

In February, an interracial couple told us Morgan mailed them an awful package containing a noose and pictures of Nicole Brown Simpson's dead body.

Morgan said his message was clear.

"My motivation was stirred by, again, the presidential election.  It doesn't bother me in the least bit that someone date someone outside of their race."

Morgan explained he is an educated man with two bachelors degrees, a masters and even a Ph.D., but he didn't know what he was doing was a crime.  Now he says he is sorry, kind of.

"I'm remorseful, but we're not in a perfect world at all.  We're not."

Morgan was sentenced to two years probation, 200 hours community service, a $2,000 fine, and starting Thursday, a 90 day prison sentence, which he said will be a cakewalk.

"If Martha Stewart can do five months, I can do 90 days."

Morgan told us he wants to put all of his degrees to use when he gets out of jail by being a teacher.

As for the victims, their story is different.  They say they will never forget what happened to them.  Now they use security features on their house day and night and say they are still sometimes afraid to go home.
