MILFORD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Three boys ages five, nine and eleven came to a home in Milford to play with the boy that lived there, but when no one answered the door, police say instead they decided to break in and steal the boy's toys.

"It was a little shocking to see they were that young," said Christopher Lipari with Milford Police.  "The younger one, I don't know that he really grasped the whole situation. I think he was more of a follower," Lipari said.

Police say the eleven and nine-year-olds jimmied the lock on the back door and stole a Playstation, a remote control car, $44 and a fishing pole.  The boys allegedly passed the cash to the five-year-old and told him to hide it.

"We've recovered most of the other property hidden back in the woods," said Lipari.

The older two were cuffed and booked for home invasion.  Police say the nine and five-year-olds have never been in trouble before and were likely influenced by their eleven-year-old half-brother, who is developing quite a rap sheet.

"He has, like I said, a couple of cases pending at the circuit court.  He has similar incidents with larceny, things like that, so he's already pretty far down the wrong path and at such a young age," Lipari said.  "Usually the juvenile system focuses on rehabilitation, so they're going to try to get the kids some help and try to set them on the right path and get them turned around so they're doing the right thing instead of this kind of thing."
