LINO LAKES, Minn. (KMSP) -

The search resumed Monday morning for a man who is believed to have drowned after his boat capsized on Centerville Lake.

The search started at about 6:45 a.m. on Sunday morning when witnesses reported watching a canoe carrying two fishermen sink into the water. Sunday's search and rescue efforts were called off at 7 p.m. before picking up Monday morning.

Good Samaritans rescued one of the fishermen but were unable to find 21-year-old Thai Vang.

A rescuer confirmed with FOX 9 News that neither fisherman was wearing a lifejacket when the canoe sunk.

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office found Vang's body at 4:05 p.m. on Monday, and it has since been recovered with the help of area fire and rescue personnel.

The victim's family stood vigil by the lake during the search, and a benefit fund has been established at Wells Fargo in the name of Thai Vang.

Centerville Lake Beach and the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes were closed during the recovery operation.

Crews were searching in 10 feet of murky water that is filled with weeds, which is making their task difficult.

Responding departments include Forest Lake police, Lino Lakes police, the Centennial Lakes Fire Department and the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.
