Metro Detroit residents aren't the only ones suffering from the heat. High temperatures are crippling the Midwest as nearly half the country is under some sort of heat-related advisory from the National Weather Service.

DTE Energy says all available crews are working 16 hour shifts, like a crew we spotted on Meadowcrest working in the 100 degree heat on a tangled mess of power lines. It's a slow, but steady process.
325,000 customers were affected as of the fourth. About 50,000 are still sweating it out, including 22,000 in Oakalnd County and 15,000 in Wayne County. The rest of the outages are scattered throughout Southeast Michigan.
Inside many homes there were brownout conditions Friday afternoon, while others had no juice at all.
DTE says 100 crews have joined the repair effort from other utilities in Michigan, Indiana and New York, but it takes time.
"It's all case by case because with those issues where we have trees that are on lines, clearing the trees is one point. There are other situations where we have lines that are down and they take the poll down with them, so polls have to be reset," DTE spokesperson Nanette Depriest explained.
DTE says they hope to have all repairs completed by Saturday night.
