APOPKA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
Motorists who use State Road 429 in west Orange County may face delays and detours this week as the realignment of the toll road reaches a critical stage, allowing it to connect to State Road 414 and, eventually, the Wekiva Parkway.
The Orlando-Orange County Expressway Authority is essentially building a new branch of 429 west of the existing road. The new branch will tie into State Road 414 and eventually into the Wekiva Parkway, the $1.66 billion, 25-mile stretch of elevated highway that will complete a beltway around Metro Orlando.
