"The Dark Knight Rises," the third and final installment of the Christopher Nolan directed series is a work of art -- a film from an exceptional film maker and outstanding performances from an A-list cast. It stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, and Morgan Freeman.
Christian Bale's final act as Bruce Wayne delivers a great, yet much darker, performance as Batman. Tom Hardy, of "Warrior" fame, plays new anti-wall street terrorist leader Bane. You can't help but recognize that the film is making some type of statement about our current state of affairs.
Bane overwhelms Gotham's fallen hero with an amazing array of simultaneous terrorist attacks. Of course, the Dark Knight resurfaces to protect the city that has branded him enemy No. 1.
Bane's Romanian gypsy accent was ominous and inspired by famous Irish boxer Bartley Gorman known as the "King of the Gypsies."
Anne Hathaway plays Selina Kyle known better by her comic book name, the"Catwoman."
This film is packed with a few cinematic scenes that will really blow your mind. I'm giving it a solid 4 ½ out of 5 stars. The surprising twists and turns blended well with a hint of what's to come.
Nolan has succeeded in delivering a very satisfying end to one of the best trilogies so far. If you can see it in IMAX.
