"He was a people person, he loved people, he went into the Army because he wanted to lead men," said Brian Lambka, a proud and grieving father. "He made a conscious decision to go to war, he cared about his troops.""

His son once loved the game of hockey; grew up graduating from Eisenhower high school in Utica in 2006. Then, Todd Lambka set his sights on West Point. Lambka had only been deployed for two months, when his life ended in Afghanistan.

He was leading a mounted patrol when his vehicle was hit by IED.

Todd's military achievements hang on the wall, symbols of all the 25-year-old accomplished. The folded American flag that escorted his remains sits waiting for his twin brother, Jordan, to come home. He's a member of the Michigan National Guard deployed in Afghanistan.

"Jordan said, 'Dad, we understood this, we prayed it wouldn't happen, but both Todd and I  understood this could happen and we were both ok with it," their father said.
