Puppy Thrown Out Car Window On 95

Posted: Updated:
CHESTER, Pa. -

If a precocious little Westie-Poo we met was a cat..Wednesday afternoon she would have used up one of her nine lives.

"The  car in front  of me swerved and barely missed her," remembers MaryAlice Pleninger." And I was like, 'No!No!"

MaryAlice Pleninger says she witnessed the four month old white pup  being hurled out of the back window of a car.

It was going at least 40-miles per hour as it got onto I-95 North in Chester at the Highland

exit.

"I  see the dogs head out the window. Then I see the body coming out and I'm like No No!," Pleninger recalled with horror in her voice. "Then I see the rump out the window
and leash and everything coming right out."

Pleninger turned on her hazard lights, using her car to shield the dog from traffic. She was stunned at what happened next.

"I thought, Oh good they're going to pull over because she went
out by mistake but they didn't they just went."

Amazingly  the puppy  suffered only a minor scratch to her back, right paw and a bruised stomach.

She's getting a second chance at life at the Delaware County SPCA in Media.

They've named her Raggedy Ann.

Justina Calgiano believes a higher power was watching over the pup since

Pleninger is an EMT trained in pet first aid.

"We just feel that MaryAlice fell from heaven for Raggedy Ann so were very thankful for her," said Justina Calgiano of the DelCo SPCA.

Pleninger says she believes the person who dumped the dog was driving  a gray four door Honda Civic or Hyundai.

The SPCA is hoping the owner or someone who knows the dog will call with information.

If not she'll be put up for adoption Wednesday after noon.
