A Forest Lake family took a tumble over the weekend when a deck collapsed while about 20 people posed for a photo.

Responders say the deck collapsed just before 8 p.m. at a home on the 18000 block of Harrow Avenue.

Greg Tulgren, the homeowner, told FOX 9 News that there were about 19-20 family members between the ages of four and 84 at the home. They had gathered for a going away party for two family members who are about to travel to Africa.

Tulgren said his daughter was getting ready to take the picture when the deck fell. Instead of making a memory, she made a mad dash for the phone and called 911.

A total of seven people were hospitalized -- four with broken ankles.

A husband and wife are still at Regions with broken ankles. The homeowners' nephew underwent surgery Sunday afternoon, he also remains in the hospital. All three are in fair condition and expected to recover.

No children were hurt.

Tulgren told FOX 9 News he never imagined the 23-year-old deck could collapse, especially since no one was jumping.
