DETROIT (WJBK) -

A trial date of November 12 has been set for Bob Bashara charged with trying to hire a hit man to kill Joe Gentz.

Gentz is the man who told police he killed Bashara's wife, Jane, strangled her and left her lifeless body in the back of her Mercedes SUV in an alley on Detroit's east side back in January.

Gentz told police Bashara paid him and promised him a used Cadillac to kill his wife, but Bashara still has not been charged in connection with his wife's murder.

We asked Bashara's new attorney, Mark Kriger, whether he has been in contact with the prosecutor's office about another case that could be coming against his client.

"I'm not commenting on anything that's pending in terms of the case itself."

Kriger is keeping quiet on the pending case and the current case, the solicitation of murder case expected to last three days.

Prosecutors say they won't have a final witness list until a month before trial, but they expect to call ten to twelve people to testify. Among those will be investigators and the prosecution's star witness, the owner of Steve's Furniture in Detroit -- the man who already testified he recorded conversations with Bashara in which Bashara allegedly paid him $2,000 to find someone who could kill accused murder Joe Gentz as he sat behind bars to keep him from testifying.

Now Bashara is sitting behind bars, as well, and could face life in prison if convicted.

"He's holding up as best as he can under the circumstances," Kriger said.

Meanwhile, Gentz is still awaiting his preliminary examination. That has now been set for the first week in October. We spoke with his attorney, who told us she is not talking plea deal right now. She is still in the process of reviewing materials in the case.
