LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) - The Chicago Bears placed rookie safety Brandon Hardin on injured reserve and also put wide receiver Johnny Knox on the physically unable to perform list on Sunday.
Hardin, the Bears' third-round draft pick, injured his neck against Washington on Aug. 18.
Hardin was taken off the field on a cart after he lay motionless for almost 10 minutes following a tackle on Logan Paulsen to end a 19-yard pass play. He went to the hospital, was released the next day and was back at Halas Hall last week wearing a neck brace.
Knox will miss the first six weeks of the regular season.
The NFL's deadline to reach the 75-man roster limit is Monday.
Heading into his third season, Chicago Bears nose tackle Stephen Paea is ready to compete for the starting spot. But handling his family's off-season acquisition – triplets! – may be a bigger challenge.
