SAINT CLAIR SHORES, Mich (MyFoxDetroit) -

A Saint Clair Shores teen was stabbed during a sleep over with friends. 17-year old Shane Spatafore is accused of stabbing his friend four times. Friends say drugs were involved.

Spatafore was spending the night at his friend's house, days away from starting his senior year of high school.  All of a sudden friends say he "lost his mind."

He allegedly grabbed a steak knife chased his friend to the basement, and stabbed him several times. When officers arrived, Spatafore was running away. He told officers he had a gun and refused to surrender.  He was tased and arrested.  Police say he was unharmed and unarmed.

Spatafore's mom claims her son had been drugged.  Alex Beaupre, a friend, told us, "They slipped him a drug while was sleeping, and he woke up in an altered state of mind and went in the kitchen and grabbed a steak knife and started stabbing him."

Police aren't confirming what kind of drugs were involved, only that Spatafore appeared to be in an altered state. He will face a judge September 18th.

The victim has not been interviewed by the police. He is still recovering from a punctured lung and multiple stab wounds.
