A heartwarming development to a story we first brought to you Monday about a West Georgia Technical College student who was seriously injured by a hit and run driver.
Branden Whitehead walked 15 miles each way to his college. It was that determination that made a local woman decide to donate her car.
Vanessa Peebles saw Branden's story on FOX 5 and was driven to help. She donated her 1990 Cadillac Fleetwood, which needs a little TLC, to Branden with the condition he continues to do well in his schooling.
Whitehead believes this will help take him a step closer to his dream of being a surgical tech. It will at least give him more time to study because while the drive takes 15 minutes, walking takes closer to 5 hours.
Whitehead believes his bag, crammed with heavy books, may have saved his life during the hit and run accident. He says it took the brunt of the hit from the car that struck him.
Newnan police say they continue to investigate the accident and search for the possible hit and run driver.
