MANCHESTER, England (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
A fugitive -- one of Britain's most wanted men -- is suspected of killing two unarmed cops with an explosive device and gunfire.
Manchester police officers Nicola Hughes, 23, and Fiona Bone, 32, were killed after they responded to reports of a burglary, The Sun newspaper reports. One of the officers died at the scene. The second was critically injured and died in a hospital.
Dale Cregan, 29, is believed to be behind the killings, though his motive is unknown. He is wanted in a separate gun and grenade attack which left a father and son, ages 46 and 23, dead.
British Prime Minister David Cameron told the paper that the killing of the two police officers was, "a shocking reminder of the debt we owe to those who put themselves in danger to keep us safe and secure."
Cregan has told friends he lost his eye in a fight, and according to police, he is believed to have several fake eyes in many different colors.
