Pacifiers may stunt boys' emotional development

Researchers at the University of Wisconsin say using pacifiers with boys may stunt their emotional growth. The scientists claim young babies communicate by mimicking the non verbal emotions of the people around them... but can't with a pacifier jammed in their mouths. The effect is only seen in boys, scientists claim, because girls are more encouraged by society to read other people's emotions later in life and that counteracts the "pacifier effect" on them.
