How much do you tip? Report says 25% may be new normal

ATLANTA -

How much do you tip your waiter or waitress? The standard used to be 15 percent, but according to one new report, that percentage is climbing and climbing.

The New York Post
says that suggested gratuities are now 25 or even 30 percent of the check.

According to a study of some 9,000 credit card receipts from a restaurant in New York, more than a third of customers - 37 percent - left a tip greater than 20 percent.

The Post says that there's an epidemic out there called "tip creep" -- the expectations of servers has gotten higher. And then there's the endless parade of tip jars in places you'd least expect.

FOX 5's Tom Haynes hit the streets to find out what Atlanta residents think.
