DELAND, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
Asher Stonesifer, 17, sometimes styles his hair in a 16-inch tall Mohawk.
He was sent home from school Tuesday morning after the principal said his hair was too extreme, causing a disturbance in school.
Asher, a senior at DeLand High School, said he was after a new world record for the tallest "Liberty Spike Mohawk," which he said now stands at 3.6 feet.
Sometimes, he wears his hair up in the spiked style, and sometimes, he wears it down. Asher said it takes about two hours to style his hair every morning, depending on how many spikes he adds.
On Wednesday, Asher was back in school after he agreed to wear his hair down. He said he refuses to cut it, something his mom said the school can't make him do.
