Police say tests on soil samples taken Friday from the yard of a home on Florida Street in Roseville have come back and there is no evidence of human remains.
The testing was done at Michigan State University.
Police were acting on a tip deemed credible that a body was buried on the property. However, Roseville Police Chief James Berlin told Fox 2's Taryn Asher last week he doubted it was Jimmy Hoffa.
"We're not saying this is Jimmy Hoffa. We're just saying there's possibly a body interred in this area. It's around the same... timeframe that Mr. Hoffa disappeared, but the timeframe is off, so we do not believe it's Jimmy Hoffa," Berlin said. Also See:
Fox 2's Roop Raj talked to the homeowner Wednesday afternoon.
"I just looked at him first and I said, 'It's all over isn't it?' And they said, 'Yes, we're going to take the police car away and the tape down," said Pat Szpunar. "I said, 'I am absolutely thrilled.'"
"The hardest part was people just coming and standing and staring, taking a picture. I went to the store the other day. 'Oh, that's the woman from the Hoffa house.' I don't have the Hoffa house. It's my house. I paid for it. Hoffa didn't."
The former Teamsters' boss disappeared over three decades ago. There have been unsuccessful searches for Hoffa's body in recent years in Detroit and Milford Township.
