WATERFORD, Mich. -- Waterford Police responding to a call say they entered a house on West End around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday and found a two-and-a-half foot-long alligator living in a wooden crate in the basement.
Upon searching further, they also found a total of four pit bulls and 24 marijuana plants.
We're told the 28-year-old homeowner confessed that everything was his.
"That's really exotic. That's very close to my house. Alligator, unbelievable," said neighbor Matthew Obrycki.
The homeowner was ticketed for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of pit bulls and possession of prohibited exotic, rare or dangerous animals.
Police say the animals were removed from the home. The man plans to give them to his mom because she lives in another city where they aren't illegal.
