Braves fans pelted the field with debris after a questionable call by left-field umpire Sam Holbrook. With the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the 8th, Andrelton Simmons popped a fly ball between two fielders. Holbrook called Simmons out under the infield fly rule.
After a nearly 20 minute delay, play resumed and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Braves 6-3.
Some fans didn't wait for the game to end to head home. Police escorted some fans out of the stadium while others chose to leave.
"We love the Braves but I don't love the things that's going in here right now, and I just as soon listen to it in my car going home than have my grandkids go through this right now," said one man.
Some people said they were disappointed in the fans' reaction.
"It's horrible that this crowd is acting like they're doing. We almost got hit with a water bottle from the fourth floor up there. It's horrible. This is the worst display of sportsmanship I've ever seen in Atlanta, Georgia," said Joyce Garrett.
There were no reports of injuries from the flying debris.
