Report: Chicago Area Mulling Tax on Guns to Curb Violence

The Chicago Sun-Times reports Cook County government leaders are talking about creating a new tax on the sale of guns and ammo, in an effort to curb violence and close a huge budget deficit.

The supporters of the idea haven't set how much the tax would be.

The idea is essentially to raise the price of guns so fewer would be sold in gun shops.

Second amendment groups are against the plan.
