Oviedo Police on Wednesday arrested a 20-year-old and charged him with lewd or lascivious behavior, promoting a sexual performance by a child, lewd or lascivious battery on a victim between the ages of 12 and 15, 9 counts of possession of child pornography and contributing to the delinquency of a child.
Burton Yang was arrested and transported to the Seminole County Jail, where he was also charged with a violation of probation.
Detectives began the investigation after the victim's parents discovered their child had been having a sexual relationship with Yang for the past 3 to 6 months and reported it to police. The parents also learned Yang provided the victim with a smart phone so they could communicate with each other.
The phone had been confiscated by school officials and subsequently turned over to the detectives. Detectives obtained a Search Warrant for the phone and discovered sexually explicit text messages between the victim and Yang. The messages also revealed that on at least one occasion Yang picked up the victim from an area high school where the victim attended school. They went to Yang's residence where they had sex. He then took the victim back to school before classes were dismissed.
Based on the evidence and information a search warrant was served at Yang's home where detectives collected evidence and seized Yang's cell phone. They then obtained a Search Warrant for Yang's cell phone and discovered additional sexually explicit messages between the two and several pornographic videos and images of the victim.
