A man who hit and killed a little girl when he crashed into her family's car 3 years ago has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
During a hearing on Friday, John Molnar, 39, apologized for the 2009 incident which happened outside the Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa, saying, "There are no words for how sorry I am."
Molnar pleaded guilty to drinking and driving on the night he killed 2-year-old Isabella Zepka. The sentencing process first began in August but was delayed to October.
Prosecutors said Molnar had cocaine in his car and was traveling twice the legal limit when he slammed into the family's PT Cruiser. Molanar's wife also took the stand, telling the court her husband is sorry and lives with the grief every day.
Molnar's lawyers wanted a lesser sentence, saying their client had promised to continue treatment, but Isabella's family had hoped he would spend several years behind bars as a "small measure of closure."
Molnar told the judge, "If I could change places with Isabella, I would in an instant."
Molnar cried as he walked out of the courtroom. He is also expected to serve 8 years of probation.
