Drivers beware! If you plan on visiting Manyunk's very narrow Levering Street, sardine-type bumper on bumper parking is the norm.
"It's a mess!" exclaimed resident Kevin Esposito. "This is a two way street and it should be a one way street."
That's why if you can't parallel park, correctly, be forewarned. You might get a colorful note left on your car.
David Bass snapped pictures of notices left on two cars , Wednesday night, after they parked at least a foot from the curb, blocking traffic on the street.
One note read " I park like an a-----" The other read "I too park like an a-----"
"If you're screwing with everyone else by leaving your car half in the road somethings got to be said," said Frank Casella. His roommate wrote the notes.
"You can't get by and it can lead to accidents. It's part of the thing were trying to fight," explained Bass.
Residents believe the culprits are out of towners. They say they see people with New Jersey and Maryland plates parking crooked all the time.
"It's probably because they're not used to parking on streets. They probably have driveways they pull into," said Levering Street resident Tess Mallen.
"I'm sure it's frustrating," said Gina McGovern when asked about it while she and her husband were in Manyunk visiting from Scranton. "But there's probably a better way to handle it."
Frank Casella said that likely won't stop his roommate from posting notes. Neighbors have started calling him the Levering Street PPA.
"If you call them out enough on it they'll try and take the hint and either pay for a lot or park better."
