Dionne Miller's 'Happenings at Halas' - October 18

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

D.J. Moore has never officially met Matthew Stafford. But every Chicago Bears fan remembers their impromptu 'conversation' at Soldier Field last November. It was an altercation Moore has had to talk a lot about this week as the Bears have an extra day before their Monday Night meeting.

"I don't think it's bad blood. He did something, I did something," Moore said.

As a defense, the Bears did a lot to Stafford that night - 4 INT's. I'm guessing Detroit's QB hasn't forgotten that...just a hunch.

But what can he do against that same defense that has simply gotten better through five games? Moore told me he believes they can maintain this level of play, "no one has the weapons on defense that we have." That appears to be truth at this point. Stay healthy is the mantra moving forward.

Same goes for the offensive line now that former first round pick Chris Williams has been released. A difficult decision for the Bears, according to Lovie Smith. But it came down to one simple fact - "It just didn't work." And the Bears had to go in a different direction.

It could also be GM Phil Emery pointing a finger at his predecessor, Jerry Angelo. Williams never found a spot to shine. It didn't help that he was moved around the line so much from one side to the other. He didn't really have a chance to focus on one thing and get good at it.

Left tackle remains a huge need for the Bears and where Emery is looking to put his stamp on that O-line and consequently this franchise. It's the last solid missing piece. J'Marcus Webb is doing well enough to not be replaced so far. So we will see. By the way, Gabe Carimi is the only remaining first round selection Jerry Angelo made - interesting.

Matt Forte had the line of the day.

"It's football, it's supposed to be physical. Nobody's going out there to play patty cake," he said.

Love it! But he didn't expect to be getting questions about Jay Cutler and his happiness on the sidelines. Forte basically said what everyone else has.

"Jay is who he is. He's not going to be happy all the time, I'm not going to be...I think it gets a little too much attention," he said.

Totally appreciate the honesty.

SAME LOCKER, DIFFERENT NUMBER: Zack Bowman is thrilled to be back at Halas Hall putting his things in the same locker, but wearing number 38. He was so genuinely excited to be able to run around at practice and says he sat in meetings Wednesday morning and felt he hadn't missed a beat. That adds a little depth at the skill positions on defense, and helps out special teams. Sherrick McMannis is banged up, so Bowman may get a shot to contribute this week.
