ATLANTA -
The city of Atlanta is getting into the mobile app business and its first venture is for cyclists. There is a new app designed to improve and promote cycling in the city.
No matter ones cycling status, Cycle Atlanta, the city of Atlanta's new, free cycling app will help improve the experience and make it safer.
City leaders developed the cycling app from a grant and with help from Georgia Tech.
The app collects real-time date from cyclists. It transmits the routes that they take and obstacles they face on those routes. So, city planners can see everything you do and help them with future improvements. The app records the route, speed, time, and statistical information, not mention the frequency of your ride.
The app allows an opt-out feature when it comes to some of the personal data collection.
The best part is that the app basically gives cyclists a direct path to city planners with their feedback.
Atlanta leaders are working to double the number of people biking to work daily. They want to double the number by 2016.
The Cycle Atlanta app is available for both Apple and Android devices and best of all, it is free. It will work anywhere you can take your bike, not just in Atlanta. They will share the information with the leaders in that city to help them as well.
