Bond has been set at $109,000 for a man arrested in Waterloo, Iowa following a double murder Monday morning at his home in north Minneapolis.
Ishmael Roberts, 22, was arrested Monday night in Iowa when he crashed a car and fled on foot. He was taken into custody after police found him a few blocks away, using a stun gun to subdue him.
Beatrice Wilson and her teenage grandson were found stabbed to death inside their home across the street from Bethune Elementary School. Sgt. Stephen McCarty says Roberts had lived in the house and investigators are "reasonably certain" he committed the murders.
Roberts appeared in Black Hawk County District Court on Monday for charges unrelated to the murders, including auto theft, property damage, reckless driving, harassment of a public official, interfering with an arrest and public intoxication.
Wilson was described as a pillar of her family -- a woman who came from Liberia to help her family seek a better life.
