A high school football player has been charged with sexually assaulting a teammate. Police say the alleged assault happened in the locker room at the prestigious Westminster School in Buckhead.
William Jackson Houk, an offensive lineman for the Westminster Wildcats, is charged with aggravated sexual battery in the incident.
School president William Clarkson sent a letter home to parents on Monday. He states there was an incident that involved a few students on the varsity football team.
"I can assure you that we have taken all steps within the schools strict guidelines and protocols regarding such matters, including the fulfillment of our responsibility to report this particular incident to the Atlanta police," said Clarkson.
Parents who chose to talk to FOX 5 on Tuesday said they're pleased with how the school has handled the incident.
"The coaches sort of sniffed it out and decided they were going to get to the bottom of it," said one parent. "If that's what happened, then I think they did a good job."
Another parent who has two children at Westminster says that she doesn't think something like this will tarnish the school's elite reputation.
"I don't think it does, you've got 60 years and prior to that it was a military school and nothing like this has ever happened...It's such a fluke," that parent said.
Houk was denied bond in his first court appearance on Monday.
