DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
Volusia County Deputies said when they found Cindie Trappen and Travis Timmerman, they were told by the couple that they weren't trying to break into a Daytona Beach home. They said they were simply concerned citizens checking on a neighbor's home. They said they heard noises and were going "to check it out."
They were both wearing all black clothing, and Trappen had on blue latex gloves. They told deputies they just like the color black, and Trappen told deputies she was wearing latex gloves to protect her chapped hands.
Deputies didn't buy it. They say Trappen and Timmerman had a wire cutter, and a screwdriver.
The homeowner of the vacant home is the one who called 911. He told a 911 operator tools and supplies were stolen from the home Monday night, so he decided to spend the night Tuesday to see if he could catch the thieves.
After hearing deputies showing up, he told the operator, "Man I'm shaking, I'm so excited, my plan worked."
