Police in Minneapolis and St. Paul are on high alert after they received threats that an officer would be killed in retaliation for an officer-involved shooting that left a known drug dealer dead.

Officers with the St. Paul Police Department will hold a community forum on the city's east side on Thursday night to discuss two recent officer-involved shootings.

The meeting addressed the questions and concerns residents had about two fatal shootings that occurred within eight hours of each other in the Payne-Phalen neighborhood. Police say the two incidents were not related.

On Oct. 23, 41-year-old Victor Gaddy was shot and killed during a police stop amid a narcotics investigation. Fewer than eight hours later, 22-year-old Chue Xiong was shot and killed after opening fire on two officers.

Officer Daniel King was shot and injured in the shootout with Xiong. He underwent surgery and is now recovering. The department said he is doing well.

Senior Cmdr. Joe Neuberger and led the meeting at 6:30 p.m., and about 100 did not shy away from coming to Arlington Hills Lutheran Church to voice their concerns.

There were mixed emotions inside the forum. A week after officers opened fire twice in 24 hours, many are still confused, scared and even angry.

St. Paul police officers stood by the department's accounts of what happened, and they tried to ease the public's concern both for the public's sake, and for the sake of those protecting them.

On Thursday, one of Gaddy's 12 children sat down with FOX 9 News to try to clear her late father's name.

"They followed my dad from where he was at all the way down there, and they shot him," Symone Walton told FOX 9 News.

After he was killed, police announced threats of retaliation from a gang known as the Gangster Disciples; however, Walton said she doesn't believe it.

"I think it's a lie," she said. "I don't have much to say about it because I wasn't in on that part of my dad's life. He was very over-protective. He was a loving dad. He did whatever he had to do for his family, for his kids to survive."
