If you can walk on fire you can do anything -- that's the mantra of firewalkers at a small fraternity called Hearts on Fire in St. Petersburg. They make fire walking a lifestyle ritual.
"We're telling our minds to open up to our hearts and when we connect to that heart center, we trust that we are protected and then we walk over the fire," said Maria Nomiko.
But don't think you can't get seriously burned.
"I learned the hard way, as most people do. I got burned very badly in 1989. I have never been burned since, and I've walked thousands of times," said Gail Bainan.
She believes her protection lies in personal choice, not science.
"Stop and think, am I reacting out of love or out of fear. You know you could walk through your fear," she said.
FOX13's Jeremy Campbell tried the walk. Watch the video in the player above to see what he discovered over coals.
