Cost of Thanksgiving up slightly in 2012

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Here's something to be thankful for. The cost of your Thanksgiving dinner will only slightly increase from last year.

The American Farm Bureau estimates that turkey and all the fixings will run you just under $50.

That's 28 cents more than in 2011.

The turkey itself will be around $1.39 per pound. That's an increase of about four cents per pound.

Although more Americans will be hitting the road this Thanksgiving, AAA said trips will be shorter due to the public's concern over soaring gas prices and other expenses.

About 43 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home over Thanksgiving. That's up just 0.7% from last year.
