Students fill school bus with donated food

Posted: Updated:

High school students in Gilbert are on a mission to "stuff a bus" at Williams Field High School.

They hope to fill it with two tons of donated food. The much-needed supplies are headed to Mesa's United Food Bank.

"We got 9,000 pounds last year and we're going for 10,000 pounds this year I think we'll it the mark or maybe even surpass it," says Ryan Asistin.

Last year, students collected more than 9,000 pounds of food for the United Food Bank.

Bashas' grocery stores helped "stuff the bus" every Saturday for several weeks at store locations in Gilbert and Queen Creek.

The bus will head over to the food bank Friday morning.
