CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Former U.S. congressman Mel Reynolds may be eyeing Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.'s 2nd district seat, should Jackson resign amid a federal probe.

Chicago Sun-Times Columnist Michael Sneed reports Reynolds has been making phone calls to election experts and potential supporters.

Reynolds is a convicted felon who was convicted in the 1990's on charges ranging from child pornography to lying to the Federal Election Commission.

But Sneed reports it's still legal for Reynolds to run for federal or state office.

Last week FOX 32 News first reported that Sam Adam Jr. was also considering a run for Jackson's Illinois seat.
