Black Friday computer glitch at suburban NY store

Posted: Updated:

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) - Black Friday shoppers arriving at a Westchester County Kmart were told that only cash would be accepted because the computer system was down.

The Journal News says some people dashed for ATMs after the announcement was made right before the 5 a.m. store opening.

Store management said it was a corporate-wide issue that was being addressed. By 5:30 a.m., one register at the White Plains store was allowing customers to pay by credit card.
