CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Pastor Corey Brooks made national headlines when he sat on a roof top for months to raise awareness about violence on Chicago's streets.
Then he did it again, walking across America to raise millions of dollars for a community center.
Now, he's back at it for mission number three: tent city, which marks the one year anniversary of the rooftop mission. The New Beginnings church pastor is joined by community members as they camp out for 72 hours to raise violence awareness and money to build a youth community center.
Brooks hopes to bring this vision to fruition here and is on a mission to raise $15 dollars to build a state of the art facility to provide an outlet for at risk children.
The 72-hour tent city mission started on Wednesday at 6 p.m. but Brooks says he will camp out as long as needed.
So far the project hood efforts have raised $1 million.
