Friends and family came together Friday night to support a family who lost two generations in a terrible car crash last week.
The crash into a school bus in Inver Grove Heights took the lives of a woman and her two grandchildren.
On Nov. 16, Elaine Clausen and her two grandchildren, 11-year-old Laela Shawel and 4-year-old Gion Clausen-Young, were killed in the fiery head-on crash.
Elaine had just taken the kids out for a quick errand to buy Laela a new dress at Kohl's.
On Friday night, friends, neighbors and loved one came together at a local bowling alley to support the family and to help raise money for expenses.
"It's never going to be the same without my mom," said Melanie Germain, and daughter and aunt of the three killed in the crash. "My mom was the matriarch of the family – I don't know how we'll keep all of us together. Really hard without her and the two kids."
The evening's events included a spaghetti dinner and silent auction.
All of the victims will be remembered at joint funerals Saturday afternoon in Inver Grove Heights.
Investigators have still not said what may have caused the crash.
