Police say they're investigating whether a woman found dead in a car parked in the Bronx was strangled by her boyfriend.

Authorities said the suspect, 40-year-old Richard Bloomfield of the Bronx, called 911 about 4:25 a.m. and told the operator that he killed his friend.

Police found 22-year-old Madonna Martin of Queens, unconscious in the driver's seat of her white Honda in the Mott Haven section at the intersection of Bruckner Boulevard and Brook Avenue.

EMS was called to the location where she was pronounced dead at 4:30 a.m.

Investigators told the New York Post they believe Martin was killed in Bloomfield's apartment on Fox Street and that he brought her body about a half mile away to the desolate Bruckner Boulevard intersection.

Authorities say Bloomfield attempted to commit suicide by slashing his wrists. He was taken by EMS to Lincoln Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation and to treat his injury.
