Man charged in fatal stabbing of Good Samaritan who tried breaking up fight

Bond was denied Sunday for a man who is charged with fatally stabbing a man who tried breaking up a fight between him and his wife in the Far South Side Roseland neighborhood this week.
Demetrius Jackson, 32, was charged with first-degree murder and had bond denied at a hearing Sunday at the Cook County Criminal Courts building at 26th and California.
Jackson was allegedly arguing with his wife Wednesday night when William Terry, 55, stepped in to stop the fight, police said. Jackson then took out a kitchen knife, police claim, and stabbed Terry multiple times throughout his body about 7:10 p.m. near Jackson's home in the 10300 block of South Forest Avenue. Police said that Jackson then fled in a van.
Terry, of the 14100 block of South Tracy Avenue in Riverdale, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 8:12 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The woman was not injured, police said. Jackson is due back in court on Monday.
