High-speed crash kills Ormond Beach motorcyclist

An Ormond Beach motorcyclist died early Monday after he failed to negotiate a curve and crashed into trees near a fire station, authorities said.

Troy David McClure, 28, was pronounced dead near the 2300 block of Airport Road, across from Ormond Beach Fire Station No. 94, Ormond Beach Police said.

A preliminary investigation determined McClure's 2007 Yamaha R6 was traveling westbound at an estimated 100 mph on Airport Road before the crash.
