STRATFORD, Conn. (AP) -

Connecticut police say they have arrested a Bridgeport truck driver in the theft of 111 handguns from the Smith & Wesson plant in Springfield, Mass.

Stratford police said Monday they arrested Elliot Perez on Friday and charged him with criminal possession of a firearm, theft of a firearm, and other weapons charges. Police said Perez, a driver for Pace Motor Lines in Stratford, allegedly stole the guns Nov. 8, and took them to Bridgeport, where he and another man sold an unknown number of them. Police said they have recovered 28 of the guns.

Perez is held on $500,000 bail. It's not immediately known who is representing him. The other man is charged with firearms violations and theft. He was released on $10,000 bail. Both men are due in court Dec. 6.
