UCF student launches 'valet trash service'

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

Adam Ruen is a senior finance major at the University of Central Florida.  In the summer of 2012, he realized he needed a way to build his business resume, so Ruen decided to start a business of his own.

He saw a need among the many UCF area apartment complexes that are filled with students and trash!  In most complexes, residents are required to take their own garbage to a centrally located compactor.  Adam bet that students would be willing to pay a small price to have someone else do that for them.  So, he created "Waste Majors."

For $20/month Adam comes to your apartment door and picks up your trash, 5 days a week.  He uses his own car or, when it's in the shop (as it is now), a good friend's pickup truck.  His bet paid off!  Waste Majors is a success so far and Adam's resume is a little better because of his trashy idea!

FOX 35's Tom Johnson shows you how he does it.
