ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -
The Orlando Police Department is investigating a hit and run incident in Orlando's Parramore neighborhood. Officers found a man lying on the ground on Jernigan Ave. just after noon on Wednesday.
The man, identified as 26-year-old Johnny Gurrier, was first thought to be a victim of a shooting and was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition. After being medically evaluated by hospital staff, it was determined that he was struck by a vehicle which caused his injuries. He was listed in stable condition as of early Wednesday evening.
Investigators learned that gun fire was exchanged between two unknown men near the intersection of Colyer Street and Jernigan Avenue. After the exchange of gunfire, one of the men got in their car and struck Gurrier as he was speeding away. There were several witnesses on scene who believed that Gurrier had been shot and then struck by the vehicle.
