Time is running out and pressure on lawmakers is mounting as the deadline to avoid the so-called "fiscal cliff" approaches, and FOX 9 News spoke with Hamline University political science professor David Schultz about what to expect from Washington.

A lot of Republicans were elected on a pledge of no tax increases, but Shultz explains that he doesn't think Republicans are backed into a corner because they could turn to tax loopholes or try some other tactics.
The economy hinges greatly on what will or will not transpire, and that has brought forward an odd pairing. President Barack Obama will meet with Mitt Romney at a private lunch to discuss ways to get the economy back on track.
Obama also took to Twitter to ask his followers to tweet their lawmakers to explain what a $2,000 tax increase would mean to their lives using hashtag #MY2K.
